*Following a trail of blackmail, murder, and suicide, Wesley Dodds -- The Golden Age Sandman -- is led from New York to Pre-World War II England on a dangerous quest for a black magic order and the truth.
Wes's journey takes him through the shifting yellow London fog, from a mission in the rough East End of London, in which his estranged love, Dian Belmont, is helping the needy, to "Fawney Rig," the Sussex manor house in which the Order of Ancient Mysteries is based, and in which Dream of the Endless is imprisoned by the Magus, the ageing Roderick Burgess.
Nothing is as it seems. No one is who they appear to be. Now the Order has thrown a party. You're invited. And at midnight, the masks come off.
... Sandman Midnight Theatre is a vital part of both the Sandman and Sandman Mystery Theatre, throwing light on matters only hinted at in Sandman #1, and changing Wes and Dian's relationship forever.
But Sandman Midnight Theatre also stands alone, a haunting tale in its own right: the only meeting between the man in the gas mask and the weaver of dreams. *Source: Inside/Back Cover
