The Silver Surfer wanders in deep space with a heavy heart. Ben Grimm, who was long lost and considered dead, has returned. The Surfers budding romance with Alicia Masters is left with a doubtful future. While brooding, the Surfer detects a life form in need of rescue, and frees the woman known as Sympira from her prison. She tell the Surfer that she suffered her fate as a result of trying to save her home world from extinction. The Surfer learns that she wields considerable might, and that she cannot be trusted.
