"Stars My Destination, Part 8 of 12: Bad Times Loom" and "City of Light, Part 2"
*In Opal, the Shade stands accused of a series of murders he claims he did not commit. The city's resident heroes, as well as some newcomers (Black Condor, Elongated Man, Phantom Lady, and Adam Strange) attempt to get to the bottom of it. Jayne and Charity invoke the ghost of the Black Pirate, and Bobo falls prey to someone that looks like the Shade.
In space, Jack, Mikaal and the Mother Box arrive at Throneworld and find the energy trace of Will Payton. However, they are shot down by hostile defense ships.
