He has a vendetta against the Torch for putting him in jail, and he plans to use the rest of the Fantastic Four to make it happen.

In the court of King Arthur, there is one who dares scoff at Merlin's magical might: Mogard. When Mogard challenges Merlin, Merlin has his attendant, the Black Knight, defeat Mogard. Mogard states that Merlin's magic is a sham, and Merlin reveals that the armor is empty, animated only by his magics.
