The Mad Thinker wants the reluctant Puppet Master to once again be his partner in bringing about the downfall of the Fantastic Four. His plan this time is to pick them off, one at a time, beginning with the Human Torch. The Puppet Master takes control of the Thing, and attempts to kill the Torch but with Reed's help, a counter strategy nullifies the Puppet Master's power.

"The Domain of the Dread Dormammu" (X-796) featuring Doctor Strange.
Dr. Strange is mystically transported to the side of the Ancient One, who has called him to warn of the coming threat of the dread Dormammu. Doctor Strange must travel to Dormammu's dimension and best him there to prevent his coming to Earth. Living under the tyranny of Dormammu, the beautiful Clea (not named until next issue) watches as Strange endures many trials. She warns him to leave while he can, but Doctor Strange approaches Dormammu and stands ready for the challenge of his life.
