Prison guards finally catch the escaped convict, who tells the unsettling story of how he escaped. He claims a subterranean beast tunneled up into the prison, inadvertently freeing him. He followed the beast, observing its ability to morph into any being. The guards are disbelieving, until the prisoner starts to change before their eyes. 7 pages.

The military tells the citizens of the city not to panic, but a spacecraft hovers over them, and the atmosphere is tense. The military go to meet the alien visitor, quaking in anticipation of his appearance. The alien removes his helmet, revealing an Earthman. The Martians think he is hideous. The twist of the story is that we are not aware that we are seeing the story through Martian eyes until the very end. 4 pages.
