A writer takes his family to the Black Swamp, where legends of a resident monster have existed for ages. When the writer's son stirs up the beast from the depths, the local townspeople react in fear and drive the monster back, unaware that it is a sentient being, patiently awaiting the time when it can request aid in repairing its spaceship. 7 pages (T-755).

In a story in the near future, scientists have mastered time travel to the past, but not the future. One man is obsessed with making it a reality, despite the pleas of his peers. He finally makes a breakthrough, but arrives at what appears to be the pre-historic past. Assuming a failure, the man leaves, never knowing that, in the future he visited, humans had fled to the stars and the Earth had reverted to wilderness. 5 pages (T-773).

"I Wore...The Mask of Drothor!"
A mask maker, once famous and now impoverished, struggles with a way to revive his career. In an old textbook, he reads of the legend of Drothor, a wizard so ugly that he put a curse on all who espied his visage. The mask maker, falling under a spell, fashions a perfect mask of Drothor and finds that Drothor's old curse still retains its potency. 5 pages (T-745).
