Warlord Krang is tailing Namor, trying to ensure his failure in the challenges that face him on his quest to recover Neptune's trident. The reasons are two-fold: he has stolen Namor's crown, but also covets the woman who loves him, Lady Dorma.

Rick Jones has raced to warn the Hulk that an atomic bomb has been launched at both he and the Leader's super-Humanoid. Only the Hulk's mighty leap saves he and Rick. With the Leader's threat eliminated, the Hulk's next concern is getting back to his lab to ensure that the gamma ray inducer prevents him from turning back into Banner. The army follows, pinning he and Rick down in the lab, threatening their annihilation. The Leader appears and offers Hulk a choice: join him or die!
