"The Road to Opar!"
Tarzan travels through the veldt on elephant-back with Jules Frecoult, a Belgian expatriate he rescued from death at the hands of Natua tribesmen.
They reach Tarzan's humble domicile, a bungalow in the center of a clearing. Jane, the Ape-Man's wife, greets them with exhilaration likened to a star-struck schoolgirl. Frecoult is invited to stay for dinner, bush-style.
Though inheritor of the Greystoke estate, Tarzan is uncomfortable in the formalities of dinner dress and deigns to leave the table with one of his ape confidantes.
Jane feels compelled to tell Jules the story of Tarzan's upbringing by Great Apes. Discovering his heritage, and claiming it, as well as Jane for his mate. Tarzan returns to tell his spouse some dire news.
Investments made in England for the family have gone belly-up. Effectively, the gentrified Jungle Lord is broke. Tarzan tells Jane that the only way to garner some quick collateral is to raid the ancient city of Opar. Outside in the shadow of the bungalow thatch roof, a Belgian's face cracks with an avaricious smile.
