"Web-Man" was first published in 1942 and was the desiganted spin-off of "The Spider", the very first action-hero who inspired the creations of both "Batman" and "Spider-Man". Stan Lee has acknowledged the relationship "Spider-Man" has to "The Spider" in "Origins of Marvel Comics". On the other hand, the secret origin of of "Batman" can be found in "Death Reign of the Vampire King", a novel first published in the November 1935 issue of "The Spider Magazine".
