"What If Doctor Doom Had Become a Hero?"
We all know of the armored, scarred, tyrannical Latverian monarch who rules his principality with an iron gauntlet. Meet another Victor Von Doom, who is the complete opposite, but still contains some of the character flaws of the greater known version.
Attending University in the United States, Von Doom recognizes in Reed Richards a rival intellect which doesn't engender hatred, but a competitive respect. The two super-science brains agree to work together after Reed corrects some of Victor's calculations for a dangerous experiment.
The experiment yields success as Doom contacts his mother's spirit in the Netherworld. As an outcome of the unholy communion, Doom has a renewed raison d'etre; free his mother's soul from eternal damnation and claim the throne of Latveria, which is rightfully his.
Years of arcane studies amass incredible knowledge, enough to conjure souls long departed from this plane of existence. When finally Victor succeeds in releasing Cynthia Von Doom from perdition, the liberation does not go unnoticed.
Mephisto is both insulted and impressed by the effrontery of this one lone mortal to steal something he's laid claim to for years. When the Demonic deceiver declares war on the Latverian lord, he will never again know peace.
