"What If the Invaders Had Stayed Together After World War Two?"
Events happen parallel to the course of history in the known universe, but take a wayward diversion elsewhere. At the precise moment when Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes strive to halt a runaway drone plane, it explodes. Both perish in the blast.
Adolf Hitler plays out his last day holed up in a bunker with his bride's corpse by his side and a pistol to his head. The Human Torch and his teen sidekick, Toro burn their way through the shielding and offer to take the Fuhrer in as a Prisoner-of-War. Hitler has other ideas, and attempts to detonate the bunker. Human Torch incinerates him in self-defense.
The Invaders are gathered together in London to be informed of Cap and Bucky's deaths. The U.S. based members are summoned back to Washington by Harry Truman.
No mass mourning or flags flown at half-mast, thanks to subterfuge by the President. A new Captain America and a freckle-faced, blond Bucky are ready to step into the shoes of the originals for the sake of maintaining morale.
They slot into place with the Invaders, who evolve into the All-Winners Squad after the end of WWII.
