"Do Unto Others" reprints X-Men (1991) #95
After having determined that the Wolverine killed by Death was in fact a Skrull imposter, the X-Men must go looking for Logan. Skrulls have been attempting to re-create their War Skrulls, and are trying to create a Skrull who can mimic Wolverine's unique abilities.
But that is not all that the Skrulls are after. Polaris is apparently one of "The Twelve" that are essentially to the Skrulls' mysterious benefactors schemes. When she is captured and taken to the Skrull base, the X-Men use the opportunity to look for their missing comrade. When they find him, it is not who they expect.
Wolverine is revealed to be Death, one of the Horsemen of Apocalypse, in this issue.

"On the Edge of Darkness" reprints Wolverine (1988) #145
The circumstances behind Wolverine's abduction at the hand of the Skrulls and his re-education by En Sabah Nur as Apocalypse's horseman Death are finally revealed.
Death is sent to kill the Hulk, who has shunned Apocalypse's offer to become the horseman War. While flashing back to Logan's battle with Sabretooth for Apocalypse's approval, he shows that there is some portion of the hero Wolverine still left inside the shell that has become Death.
This issue reveals that Wolverine had recently regained his adamantium skeleton and claws when Apocalypse remade Logan into Death. The adamantium was transferred from Sabretooth after he had been defeated by Wolverine.
