And when the bombs stopped falling on Pearl Harbor, two hours after they began, everything had changed--in comics as everywhere else. For, with America's official entry into the fracas which had been raging in Europe since September 1939, and between China and Japan since 1937, the super-heroes went to war in earnest. FDR's speech to Congress on December 8, 1941--and our declaration of war on Germany and Italy a few days later--unleashed the super-heroes with a vengeance. And nobody went to war with a greater flair and with more enthusiasm than the Justice Society of America.
