WILL POWER
For 20 years Jonathan Frakes’ name has been synonymous with Commander William Riker, the First Officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Now living on the East Coast of America and spending more time behind the camera than in front of it, he still enjoys attending Star Trek conventions worldwide where he is one of the most popular guests. As he explains, “What started off as just another audition for just another show has turned into a life-changing experience”.
KIRK VS PICARD
It’s one of the questions that has plagued fans for years: who would win in a contest between James T. Kirk and Jean-Luc Picard. Star Trek Generations and William Shatner’s novel series have seen the pair team up as allies in the 24th Century. Now the fans have had a chance to decide, in the online competition run by FanLib. In our exclusive extract, Eric Webb, winner of the first section, sets the scene for the confrontation, based on a scenario devised by Andre Bormanis.
THE FINAL FAREWELL
General Martok and Chancellor Gorkon, a.k.a. J.G. Hertzler and Robert O’Reilly, decided to give the fans one final treat before retiring from the convention circuit for good – and Star TrekMagazine was there! We went behind the scenes at FedCon in Germany to chronicle the two men’s transformation from visiting actors to Klingon warriors in all their glory, and discovered just why Paris Hilton kept J.G. Hertzler amused.
