*Returning from a parts-gathering mission, the Maru is attacked by Neitzchean fighters and is forced to make a crash landing on an icy planet. Dylan and his crew face dangers from without and within. Although he tries to control his Magog instincts, Rev Bem’s need to kill becomes a threat to all, and Tyr’s encounter with bitter Neitzcheans only increases the danger. At the same time, the Squorms, genetically-engineered macro-fauna who inhabit deep tunnels, threaten friends and foes alike. Back on the Andromeda, a still-infected Harper wrestles with suicidal urges, but Rommie’s desperate need to fix the overloading reactor snaps him back to reality.
