* The youthful influence on today's production vehicle styling prompted George Barris to create the ultimate along these lines -- "The American Motors AMX "70 - 100". The first major modification was to lower the overall silhouette by chopping the top section and slanting the windshield post. To further the extreme fastback image, long tapering wind splits in the rear were lowered 10 inches. Between the windsplits are streamlined lovers extending from the roof line to the lower panel. A courtesy / safety lighting system was installed utilizing the louvers, with red taillight and stop lights, amber lights for deceleration and caution and a green light for forward motion. The AMX-400 frontal area was lengthened fifteen inches with a matching lower pan and louvered grill installation. The rear fenders were also extended to follow the streamlined windsplits. The hood has twin-tunnel forced - air scoops molded into the hood panel. Saddle antique and walnut was used as the color combination in the interior.
