*When Adam Warlock used the Infinity Gems to purge his soul of all good and evil, he inadvertently gave birth to a creature of infinite villainy - the Magus! In pursuit of his goal of ultimate power, the Magus created dark doppelgangers of Earth's protectors and ordered them to destroy their heroic counterparts! Thus occupied, the heroes were unable to impede the Magus's progress as he gathered the Infinity Gems in order to re-create the universe in his own evil image!
