*Calliope, once Homer's inspiration, is the youngest of the nine muses. The mother of Orpheus, she left the Dream Lord when he refused to intercede with the lords of the underworld on their son's behalf. Sixty years ago, writer/occultist Erasmus Fry captured and enslaved her as his own personal muse. His writing career flourished as she suffered his constant physical abuse. When he grew old, he tired of her, and sold her to a young novelist Richard Madoc, who treated her no better. When Morpheus learned of her predicament, he briefly put aside old resentments and rescued her. *Source: Back of card
