*The being known as the "Q" to the U.S.S. Enterprise crew is part of a seemingly all-powerful race known as the "Q Continuum." Q has appeared many times to study humans by watching the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, usually appearing in a human shape himself. The Q tried to tempt Commander Riker with the lure of enormous power, but was unsuccessful. On another occasion, Q sought refuge with the crew after losing his abilities and being kicked out of the Continuum!
