*Blind since birth, Geordi LaForge has turned his disability into a unique asset. He wears a VISOR - Visual Instrument and Sensory Organ Replacement - which allows him to see the entire electromagnetic spectrum. LaForge joined the U.S.S. Enterprise with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and was assigned to helm the conn. He was promoted to full Lieutenant, and became Chief of Engineering and now holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
