Original Sketches for Han Solo in STAR WARS showed him in a tailored military outfit that looked more like a general than a rapscallion. But George Lucas quickly made it clear that his heroes and villains wouldn't be clad in the kind of Spandex-tight, "futuristic" duds that were the hallmark of so many 1950's science fiction epics.
