*It has been ten years since Earth joined the Aschen Confederation, bringing peace, prosperity, and an end to disease. However, when Carter discovers that she is unable to conceive a child, a horrific truth is revealed. The Aschen have eliminated population growth, and humanity is facing extinction. A desperate plan is conceived to undo the alliance with the Aschen by sending a message back in time through the stargate. The stargate is heavily guarded by a deadly laser system and each member of the SG-1 team falls prey to its beams. With her last ounce of strength before her death, Carter grasps the note and tosses it through the stargate saving the future.
