*What makes writing John Constantine so enjoyable is the absence in him of the pathetic, false morality that pervades most comic-book characters. He got into the occult in the first place because it was better than sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll, and he has little or no sense of responsibility for the appalling consequences of his dabbling. He certainly feels guilty about the friends he's sacrificed while following his own, usually selfish agenda - but instead of seeking redemption or tying to make amends, his usual answer is to dive head first into a bottle and wallow around in depression and self pity. You've gotta love a guy like that. - Garth Ennis *Source: Back of card
