About Star Wars: 30th Anniversary Collection Comic Packs (2006)
*Hasbro goes '70s retro with a new series of figures based on the original color schemes of Marvel Comics' Star Wars characters from issues #1, #2, and #3. The unique coloring by Marvel's Marie Severin, Steve Leialoha, and Carl Gafford strayed pretty far from the costume colors seen in the film, probably because the first three issues came out before A New Hope was released (and black and white stills were likely the only reference given to the artists).
As a result, fans who had read the comic books got a bit of a surprise when the movie finally came out -- Vader didn't have the red eyes depicted in the comics, nor did the Rebel troopers wear the classic '70s burnt sienna and avocado garb seen in the first few pages of issue #1. Chewbacca appeared truer to the "space ape" description that was prevalent at the time, and Tarkin looked like a Grand Moff of Oz. Can't beat '70s Star Wars comics for some of the most imaginative interpretations of characters and costumes!
Each of the four 2-packs comes packaged with a reproduction of the original comic books that inspired the figures' color deco. This is a fantastic series that action figure collectors, comic book aficionados, and fans of the old-school Star Wars aesthetic won't want to miss! *Source: hasbro.com
