About Annihilation: Conquest - Starlord
Peter Quill, once the swashbuckling adventurer known as STARLORD, is recovering from his wounds inflicted upon him by the techno-organic threat of THE PHALANX.* Hala, the Kree's homeworld, is now under the direct control of the Phalanx, who have placed a large energy shield around the planet. This effectively cuts Hala and the Kree population off from the rest of the galaxy.
Quill is brought before Kree Admiral Galen-Kor, who is putting together a covert, non-tech strike force to attack the Phalanx and bring them down before they can create a series of contagion bombs to devastate the world.
The team consists of the "Celestial Madonna" MANTIS, ROCKET RACCOON, the Shi'ar criminal DEATHCRY, former "Micronaut" BUG, GROOT, and Gabriel Vargas, an Earth native with the CAPTAIN UNIVERSE "Uni-Power".
Together, Quill and his motley band are able to infiltrate the Phalanx's inner hub, but not before discovering that the entire population of the planet has already been infected by an airborne nanovirus that will turn everyone infected into mindless techno-zombies...including Starlord and the team, who surrender to the Phalanx in order to buy some time for Captain Universe and Mantis.
Hidden in the bowels of the city, Captain Universe allows the Uni-Force to roam free into the Phalanx hivemind to discover the countermeasure to put an end to the virus and free the Kree population.
However, this is not the end of Peter Quill's story. The Kree still have plans for Starlord and the rest of the team.
