About Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.
This title begins a series for Mike Mignola's titular hero, wherein Hellboy comes of age and is allowed to participate in the Bureau's business. Set in the year 1952, This series contains issues 1 to 5 in the comprehensive numbering for the series, Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.

Of note, Mignola previously handled the history of the B.P.R.D. in a similar fashion, with the titles B.P.R.D.: 1946, B.P.R.D.: 1947, and B.P.R.D.: 1948. So far, Mignola has left a gap in the B.P.R.D's history, namely 1949 - 1951.
