Good afternoon all,

I made a purchase last Thursday from a seller and I've received no communication about it at all. Yesterday I received the rest of what I purchased the same day from other sellers.
I sent a message yesterday afternoon to ask when my books will ship and still nothing.

How long do I give the seller before requesting PayPal to refund my money?

I think you're way too early to consider any sort of claim. If the books were sent media mail, I'd wait at least two weeks before being concerned. Even if they were sent Priority it's too early. I've seen Priority packages take a week to arrive.

Some sellers receive an order and ship it with no communication (some, not me). As for your message, do you know how to check to see if a message has been read by the recipient?

Have you bought from that seller before? Is the message you sent still marked as unread or has it been opened?

I think PayPal has you wait 30 days? before you can file a claim but I'm not 100% positive on that.

It's possible they only ship once or twice a week. I know that I used to ship every day but due to circumstances I can only go to the Post Office 2-3 times a week myself.

This is the first time I've purchased anything from this site. I bought from several at the same time (Howie was one of them).

The message I sent still says it's unread a day later. (I sent it yesterday). The transaction here also still just says sold, whereas the others all say shipped.
I'm fine with it not shipping right away, although I paid for Priority and it should have shipped over the weekend with that. The problem is that I've asked them when it will ship and haven't gotten a reply of any sort.

So which store is it (asking the real questions)?

Some stores here don't do much business, so they may not check it regularly (although the person should have gotten an email from PayPal regarding money received). They may also have good feedback, but there's no way of knowing how old it is.

That alone usually gets a sellers attention and gets you a tracking number. That doesn't actually mean the order has been shipped though. It just means they bought a label. If you don't see the package moving by checking the tracking number thru the USPS's system then go ahead and escalate the dispute to a claim.



If you're really irritated about the delays, refuse the shipment so the tracking number starts heading back to the seller instead of getting marked delivered. You can then contact PayPal and they will immediately resolve the "Item Not Received" case in your favor since the tracking shows you didn't get it and it's headed back to the seller.

Being a first time buyer here, I'm already questioning the sellers on this site. First this problem, and now another.

I've reached out to another seller about an issue with the book that was sent and once again, no reply as of yet. (The seller has read the message.)

By the way;
I filed a dispute with PayPal that I hadn't received any tracking info yet and they just refunded my money. If I get an explanation from the seller within the next couple days and I'm assured the books will be sent, I'll send the funds again.

I'm hoping I don't have to dispute the second one...

Never really understood this. Two not-great experiences, and so everyone else gets called into question?

PayPal will always get you you're money back.

Find sellers you like. Stick with them.

Very strange about Manhattan on Mars, though. They are a relatively new seller from the past few years, and seem to have come in hard with a large inventory with lots of sales and happy customers. Very odd.

Dang, very sorry to hear about those problems. I hope there's at least one seller here you would stay around for.

I also find it odd about Manhattan. They've always seemed to be one of the better vendors here and have a stellar record from what I've observed. I think they might be a brick and mortar? so that may have something to do with it.

Plus, not everyone responds to messages quickly. I try to but sometimes it even takes me a couple of days to get back to someone due to circumstances. Shoot, I've bought things from eBay before and got them without ever hearing from the Seller at all.

Both sellers have high feedback ratings, so I thought it would be fine. Everyone has an off day and many people are busy, so I'm always willing to give benefit of a doubt before I take matters further. It's 2 "bad" transactions out of 5 on this. I know there are more than likely many fantastic sellers here, but to me, that doesn't inspire confidence my first time out.

I have ordered from Manhattan _on_Mars on a few occasions. The longest time between me placing an order with them and them marking the items as 'Shipped' was 9 days. I've never had any issues with them,arriving, however. Hope that helps!

Not trying to influence you, but just adding my 2 cents.

I have made a ton of orders with MOM with no problems.

If he hasn't said it, I will just say that he is going through some serious personal things.

That being said, communication is key for a seller.

I hope he reaches out to you soon.

They just posted a few days ago that they are putting their store on vacation mode to catch up on orders. Probably refunded the money rather than deal with a claim.

MOM reached out and explained what was going on.

I said if they would send me a PayPal request, that I would send the funds again. They didn't show up in my recents on PayPal, or I would have just redone it right away.

Glad it worked out...now visit MY store!
