After a week of a lot of mid-tier games, we actually have a packed weekend with a lot of top teams facing off. Is this what they call Separation Saturday?

TOP 25 - Notre Dame Fighting Irish
This one is tough, because both teams have been doing what they are supposed to against their competition so far, but there's not a lot to really look at.

INTER CONFERENCE - Oregon Ducks
I think this is going to be a fun game, but the Prime hype gets a little grounded here.

INTRA CONFERENCE - Washington State Cougars
I have a soft spot for the Cougs.

RANDOM - Tigers win.
I'll go with Missouri.

That's a real state.

RANDOM - Memphis Tigers @ Missouri Tigers (in St. Louis) (Battle of the Tigers) Going to have to go Tigers on this one. Memphis Tigers that is.

BEAT THE SPREAD - Southern Cal Trojans @ Arizona State Sun Devils (USC favored by 32.5) - Does Herm Edwards still coach ASU? No? Then I'll take the Trojans to beat the spread.

FCS GAME OF THE WEEK - Sacramento State Hornets @ Idaho Vandals - The Vandals sacked Rome and the Hornets play in Sac-Town. Vandals.

TOP 25 - Ohio State runs it in at the end to steal the victory (I was only one to pick Ohio State)

INTER CONFERENCE - Ducks curb stomp Prime Time (we all got this one)

INTRA CONFERENCE - Cougars win the PAC-2 Battle (Chip was only one to get this one)

RANDOM - Missouri wins the Battle of the Tigers (Chip and I got this one)

BEAT THE SPREAD - Trojans only win by 14 (Chip and I both said no)

Here's an interesting scenario that no one was talking about at the end of the OSU/ND game, since they discovered there was actually 1 second on the clock.

If they score a TD on the last play of a college game, they don't have to kick the extra point unless it affects the outcome of the game. OSU's touchdown put them up 16-14...but there was still a chance to affect the outcome of the game. If ND blocked the extra point and ran it back for 2, the game would have been tied at 16 and forced overtime. So if I were OSU and the clock was 0:00 after the TD, I would have just knelt on the extra point attempt, ending the game at 16-14.

But with there being 1 second left, kicking the point was the right call, since they had to kickoff afterwards regardless. There was still an outside chance that OSU could commit a series of penalties that would get ND into FG range. A 17-14 lead decreased the chance of outright losing in regulation.
