Also, the newsstand vs direct market is nowhere as narrow as "1 or 2 people who care about such things." It has turned into a very important, if still minority, niche of collections and values over the last decade. CCL ignoring it as the market grew while many other sites embraced it has run off users and shoppers here.

^ My thoughts exactly.

IT may not make sense for modern books but from books prior to 2016, if it comes between someone having to send messages asking if a book is this or that vs them just moving on and checking other sites- chances are the latter is what will happen.

As for listing feels, never sold here but I saw someone earlier mentioned the Bay (could have been one of the other shipping threads) but they allow a set number of free postings /month- and if you don't use them it rolls over into the next and stack.

Maybe CCL needs to rethink their fee structure to encourage more books being posted here to compete. but i digress. I'm only 12 books away from having all the (as I call it) "BS books" that I'm missing and i can go back to working on my "real" gaps (mostly below issue 150 anyway)

Side note -
I am on the hunt for a 4th printing of Batman 415 if anyone has one :p

Honestly, I don't think CCL needs to give anything else away. The cost of selling here is far, far less than ebay in every way. Paying a one time fee of one cent to list an item isn't too much to ask. Store fee is $15 per month vs $28 on ebay. Commission fees for CCL is 5%, whereas I can't even tell you exactly what it is for ebay because they can't just make it straightforward for everything, but I do know they take anywhere from 15 to 20%. I wouldn't even blink if CCL decided to charge more for sellers.

EVERYONE-

I for one am more than a bit excited. This could solve many problems for me, so I assume other sellers as well.

I used to be quite the proponent of having the software INHOUSE as most places I went would not have proper internet capabilities to look at the software, and want lists. That is just not the case anymore.

I am hoping this solves all that, and it would also be nice to be able to download a spreadsheet as a backup, just in case.

I would rather do a global fix than try to put a bandaid on ailing software.

We've had two people try to place orders since this oddysey began, and ccl hasn't sent either to PayPal. Not that I expect any of our esteemed leaders to read or respond.

The new website was "months" in the making. Any idea how many more "months" to fix it so it can be deployed? When they took the update down, I thought it might be for a few days to iron out some wrinkle that was missed. It's starting to look like there was a fatal oversight and the "months" spent on the update were wasted.

Can we at least get a fix for the Paypal issue? I'm having to manually confirm nearly 100% of orders and send my own Paypal payment requests to collect the money. Occasionally the payment goes through on Paypal's side, and CCL still tells me I have to manually confirm the order.

Maybe we could spend "months" just fixing some basic issues with the current site? Or maybe just make the site secure so web browsers aren't telling people the site is not secure? I know that has caused some customer's to not shop and leave the site (I send them here through E-Bay sales).

I guess routine maintenance is too much to expect...

Agree with everything here. The fatal oversight was not providing virtually anything the sellers wanted to see.

Which is exactly what happened last time the "upgraded" the site, what, a decade ago? Just made it so my orders printed larger because of the new layout, meaning I use more paper and ink to print orders.

It's about what I expected from this endeavor.

In their defense, they never asked any of the sellers what they would like to see, so they were just guessing...Silly

I know of three sellers who were asked to participate in beta testing. Two declined (including me) because a FB account was required (presumably I'm guessing a Facebook Group was set up to discuss the update). I have no idea what the input/suggestion process was like with the third seller who did participate.

Id assume listing more than 1 book at a time would have been a big start. The ability to hold sales without a lot of runaround would be nice. Adding more than 1 title to the review page during listing would be awesome. The ability to cancel orders, if need be.

That's just off the top of my head. There are other things as an approved that would make a world of difference.

All good points, but what do you mean about not being able to cancel orders?

I have an order right now that doesn't meet my order minimum. For whatever reason, by the method of PayPal payment they used, it's pending the refund. I can't cancel the order until PayPal finally finishes processing the refund.

They may be working on something. It used to be when Paypal did go through, the Paypal payment notice contained an itemized list of everything the buyer purchased. Now the e-mail just says "Shopping Cart" on a single line item, with the order total. If you go to Paypal though, the invoice is itemized. So just the e-mail notification has changed.

The issue now is when CCL doesn't mark the order as confirmed. It used to be when it said "Processing Paypal Pending" on the order, you could go in and manually confirm the order, which then would allow you to fill it and mark it as shipped.

I have an order today that was placed at 4:19 pm. Paypal says the order is paid for (complete and ready to ship), so I should be able to pull it and ship. However, it is 4:55 pm (36 minutes after payment was completed) and Comic Collector Live is still saying "Processing Paypal Pending".

And there is no button now to manually confirm the order, so I can't get the order to where it allows me to mark it as shipped.

So it looks like CCL may have tried to fix something (since the Paypal e-mail has changed), but instead broke the site even worse (I can't even manually confirm a "Paypal Pending" order now).

Nah. This is all old news. It'll be 2035 or so before they try again.

I've noticed it usually takes up to two hours for the interface to give up and the button appears to either cancel or complete. Thirty-six minutes is a bit too soon.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

After a recent pause, I just started cuing up more books to sell. Got one long box done, and was going to get several more ready to go live all at once. Looks like I'll dump what I have onto the market now, lest something goes wrong and the work is lost.

Same as you, Corey. I rushed to get a box up and shelved before this happened. I'm a bit wary this time. I did not like the "list one issue at a time" feature and I don't know if that is still going to be the case. Keeping an open mind, let's see what happens. Daydreaming Nailbiting
