I have posted my weekly breakdown of the conference races:
https://cfarena.blogspot.com/2023/11/2023-week-10-wrap-up.html

For our favorite teams....

Tennessee can win the SEC East if they win out and Georgia loses out (they play each other on 11/18).
But a Georgia win or Tennessee loss knocks them out.

Over in the ACC, FSU has already clinched a spot in the championship game, so everyone else is just trying to get the #2 seed.

VT has a little better than a snowball's chance in hell, but only if they win out and Louisville loses out.

uva is already out of contention, but they hold quite a bit of power on Thursday night, since they play Louisville. A Louisville win would eliminate almost every other ACC team from contention.

*The big asterisk with the ACC is UNC right now. They are the only team in contention that doesn't play Louisville, so there's no head-to-head tiebreakers in play. The quickest way to wrap up the ACC would be Louisville over uva and Duke over UNC this coming weekend.

Pretty neat site, I am going to have to read through some of it.

One note, a Champions of Life page..... as a lifelong Tennessee fan, that invokes a bunch of different emotions. A funny idea and interesting to see though. I notice my Vols have blown multiple chances at reclaiming the crown.....stupid Butch with his catchphrases, brick by brickAngry At Wits' End Laughing Sad

I first learned it had to do with the shoe, Moccasins.
https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/bring-back-the-shoe

Looking it up, it started out having to do with a section of the Tennessee River.
Apparently it now is a shortened version of Mockingbird (Tennessee's state bird).

Fox figured out that their best ratings come in the noon slot, so they ran with it. They couldn't put too many Pac-12 games there, so it's mostly Big Ten and Big 12. And also, the Big Ten hates night games late in the season anyway because it's usually so cold at a lot of their stadiums.

Well, Louisville's win last night closed the book on any ACC team other than UNC trying to get that #2 spot in the ACCCG.

Louisville will clinch that spot if they win their final conference game, or UNC loses any game.

If Louisville loses and UNC wins out and both are 6-2, then we'd have to go down a list of tiebreakers. (Those two don't play each other this season.)

Louisville has already beaten all of the other ACC with 2 conference losses, so they hold all tiebreakers.

The ACC and SEC have both set their championship games -- https://cfarena.blogspot.com/2023/11/2023-week-11-wrap-up.html

Turns out that UNC was knocked out of contention before they even played last night due to the Miami loss. Yeah, I figured out the tiebreakers.

I might have made some mistakes on the tiebreakers -- apparently VT still has a 0.4% chance of going to the championship game.
I figured out that scenario, but I can't figure out what scenario allows UNC to get to the title game, even though they have a 3.1% chance of getting there.

That's some pretty deep tiebreakers involved there. Looking at this article, it involves some strength of schedule craziness:

I was looking at that article when I was re-evaluating the championship options. Unfortunately, it was written before Saturday's games, and the scenario that they were laying out (requiring Miami to win) didn't play out.

Because of that, I can't figure out how UNC still has a chance, but it has to involve a bunch of different ACC teams going 4-4 in conference, and somehow getting placed in a way that Miami comes out ahead of Georgia Tech, even though GT has the head-to-head tiebreaker.

My buddy went through some tiebreakers and ended up with one scenario that creates an endless loop of tiebreakers. Basically, trying to figure out the tiebreaker between UNC and Louisville, you have to break all of the ties of the 4-4 teams in the middle, but one of the steps takes you right back to UNC and Louisville.

This is why I prefer conferences to have divisions.

INTER CONFERENCE - New Mexico State Aggies
The NMS coach is Jerry Kill, who was an coaching advisor at VT during the Fuente years. Actually, it was the 7 weeks that the team didn't suck in 2019, so his impact was noticeable. There's also a story that he accused our former OC of not being able to analyze film and almost got in a fist fight. (Ya'll probably remember my Fire Corn mantra in 2021.)
Meanwhile, Auburn is coached by Hugh Freeze, and I've got several reasons to not like him.
