I have found that my latest purchase of Comic Bags fit so tightly that once the comics are slid inside with a very thin backboard, the book has a slight wavy or rolling effect. I'm not very comfortable with this, but hate to not use them. I am wondering if I can press them under a weight or if the rolls will work out once pressed in tightly when boxed. I am open to suggestions and hope I am not crying "wolf".

Man, I'd be (banned) about that. I'd say the heavy book idea would be the best way.

I ran into the "too tight" bag situation a few years back. Let me tell you, either take them back and get a refund, or simply don't use them. It's not worth trying to "press" them with the comic in the bag to get the waves out. You need to find a better brand of bags and boards. I order the 7" bags from BCW to use with modern comics.

http://www.bcwsupplies.com/prod-CUR%20or%20CUR-THICK.htm

Click the size tab and you can see the 7" brand. I order a few cases of these at a time and have used them for the last 3 years.

Have we discussed this already? Maybe on another board? Anyways, I've encountered this problem as well, and it makes me furious. I have stacks of bags and boards that don't fit. I'm saving them though, because they mught come in handy someday. I won't put my comics into a bag/board that is too tight. I hate seeing my comics curve and get wavy.

I've encountered the same problem, but the waves seem to work themselves out after a while of being boxed.

Yeah, I've gone through that. Luckily I've found a shop only slightly out of my way that always stocks the same brand of bags and boards all the time (I think it's Heroes brand). They've never let me down.

Definately a Future problem if you don't take them out of those bags now....pressing will not help since the bags will not stretch to your backing boards or books so the result is a rolled spine, which you do not want.....
I currently use the Silver Age Size Backing Boards and ProBags from Comic Defense that I purchase at the Local Shop but I guess its an Item distributed through Diamond that only the Dealer can get. I'm going to make the switch though hopefully soon because they are quite expensive.

The Silver Age Size ProBags and Boards fit just about all Comics that I've come across and even the TPB. Depending on the thickness of the Comic Book, each a bag with a board can hold up to three comic books, but be careful and watch for the thickness of the Books....if it seems a little difficult to put three books in one bag, then don't. You'll end up in the same situation that your trying to get away from with the waviness.

I'm going to make the switch to Ultra Pro Comic Bags....so far the only place I've seen them for sale is at www.the2buds.com

When I make the switch, I'm going to purchase them in quantities of 500....
For 500 bags, the price is 16.95.
For 500 Backing Boards, the price is 30.95.
Right now, I'm paying almost 10.00 for a package of 100 bags and maybe 14.00 for a package of 100 boards....

Ug, I've been running into that lately. I'll get a pack of 100 bags, and several of them I can barely get the board into, never mind the comic. I typically save those for crappy comics I don't care about. :)

try http://www.tcbulk.com/scripts/prodlist.asp?idcategory=44
they have good prices on comic supplies even with the shipping its cheaper than a comic shop. was paying 8-9 bucks for 100 boards and 5-6 bucks for 100 bags at a shop. buying in bulk it comes to 5-6 bucks for 100 boards and 3-4 for bags. you have to buy like 500 or more to get the price but its worth it in the long run.
Oh sh.....

I FOUND THAT IF AFTER YOU TAPE THE BACK YOU LAY IT FLAT THEN LIGHTLY PRESS THE AIR OUT YOU GET RID OF THE WAVES. I ALSO PUT MY BOOKS SNUG INTO BOXES SO THEY ARE KEPT FLAT. I USE THE ULTRAPRO BAGS FOR MODERN COMICS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. YOU CAN GET THEM PRETTY CHEAP AT NEWBERRY COMICS OR FOR A LIL MORE AT YOUR LOCAL COMIC STORE. I THINK THE HEAVY BOOK WILL WORK FOR A WHILE BUT MOST LIKELY THE PROBLEM WILL RETURN AFTER A WHILE OF NO WEIGHT ON THEM.

ive had this problem, and decided to go with it... i dont bother to force any air out, or press down on them, i just put them in the box anyways... in about a weeks time, from being in the box, it straightens out, and no waves or wrinkles in the book or spine... good as new... and plastic does stretch. just slowly...
plus i like knowing my books are in a smug fitted bag...

I encounter this problem mostly with giant sized issues and any books that may have more pages then average. But again, if you put them into storage asap, they'll turn out just fine.
