"The Flame Knife, Part One"
Conan serves as the mercenary leader of the Kozaki for King Kobad Shah of Iranistan, but when the King orders Conan to capture or kill one of his warrior brothers, Balash, Conan rebels, departing with his fighting force and a member of the King's harem. The King is upset and nervous, as assassins from Yezmites, noted for their flame-shaped daggers, have marked him for death. The King sends riders to pursue Conan's troop, giving chase until Conan stumbles onto the hidden city of the Yezmites, where he asks for asylum. To receive this, he must receive the blessings of 'The Tiger'. When Conan discovers the Tiger is Olgerd Vladislav, he worries that his fate is sealed.
