"The Origin of the Mandarin!"

Iron Man has been captured by the Mandarin, who recounts his origin as a descendant of Genghis Khan, how he wandered in the dread Valley of Spirits after being ousted by the military government, and how he ultimately stumbled upon the alien spacecraft containing his rings of power. The Mandarin plots to foment World War III and to rise to power after the Chinese and Americans have fallen.

Captain America is invited to a high security prison to give a demonstration, but when he gets there, he learns that the real staff of the prison have been overpowered, and the prisoners are looking for a high-profile hostage to guarantee their escape.
