"The Shambler from the Sea!"
Still stripped of his mystic powers, Doctor Strange has to use his initiative to escape from Ebora, high priestess of Sligguth. As he flees the flooding tunnel where she had him trapped, the demon, Sligguth is also lying in wait.
Strange uses sheer brute strength to stun Sligguth with his own totem. As Sligguth drowns, a new demon threat rises from the sea bed.
Clea and Wong have arrived in Starkesboro, to be met by a frantic stranger who tells a similar story to that which Ethan Stoddard originally told Doctor Strange to lure him to the heathen town. They are besieged by the transmutated townsfolk, and quickly overcome, despite a spirited struggle. The same evil aura in the air prevents Clea from using any of her magical skills.
The wicked wench Ebora orders the troglodytes to bring the three outsiders to yet another sacrificial altar. The trio are to be offered to N'Gabthoth, the monster from beneath the waves.
Both N'Gabthoth and Sligguth before him act in service of a greater force of evil, Shuma-Gorath, who lies in slumber awaiting the sign to re-emerge and usurp the Earth. Also in servitude to Shuma-Gorath are the Shadowmen of Kaa-U, who now hold the Ancient One imprisoned.
The Ancient One surrenders his body, sending his astral self across the globe to assist his disciple, Stephen Strange.
The aged mentor merges his power with his illustrious pupil to free Wong, Clea and the fair-haired stranger. N'Gabthoth is forced to retreat and furtively recovers an ancient treasure chest secreted in the Starkesboro church.
Strange bests, then banishes the demon, and as the Ancient One leaves him, the treasure chest is opened. A map is found inside highlighting Stonehenge.
