What are the best comic rivalries? Superman vs. Luthor? Wolverine vs. Sabretooth? Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock? My Favorites: Guy Gardner vs. Hal Jordan - Sure, they're on the same side. But they aren't allies. Guy Gardner would knock the taste outta Hal's mouth if he knew he could get away with it. And I love it! As big of an arrogant arse that Guy is, I'm still glad that somebody puts Hal in his place once in a while even if it is Guy. Spider-Man vs. Venom - This rivalry has produced some of the most violent, emotional, and intense battles in Spider-Man's long history. I always loved it when Venom was around back in his early days, you always knew a good fight was coming. Superman vs. Darkseid - I love this battle just because these are the 2 most powerful beings in their universe. It's great to see 2 gods go at it in a slugfest. And you're never really sure who's more powerful. Sometimes Supes comes out on top, sometimes Darkseid actually wins. Kyle Rayner vs. Parallax (Evil Hal) - Yeah, this rivalry is done and over with now, so it's a moot point. But it was good while it lasted. I'm glad Hal is a GL again and the Corps are back, but he still made a fan-freaking-tastic villain while he was one. And Kyle was the perfect guy to go up against him. Green Lantern #0 (which was basically the last chapter to Zero Hour) was their first and greatest battle. Parallax View where Hal tried to reclaim his ring was great too, and the JLA got involved! And Emerald Knights was great! Kyle and a Hal Jordan from the past when he was a rookie GL take on Parallax in a battle through time! Captain Marvel vs. Black Adam - This rivalry is great because of the power of the players here and their unwavering spirits. Black Adam is relentless and arrogant to no end. He will never give up or show mercy. Yet at the same time Captain Marvel is the ultimate good guy, he will never give up and would fight with his dying breath. This makes for awesome battles. At least in the pages of Power of Shazam!, JSA, and Justice they were! -Nate- ***CHECK OUT MY COMIC TRADING LIST, CLICK HERE******TRADE VIDEO GAMES WITH ME, CLICK HERE******TRADE COMIC CARDS WITH ME, CLICK HERE***Make sure that you read and understand the forum rules here

I always loved it when Venom was around back in his early days, you always knew a good fight was coming. Not to say that this isn't a good rivalry, because I like Venom, but the battles I've seen always seem a bit one sided. Venom outmatched Spidey in every class (strength, speed, agility), on top of which he doesn't trigger Spidey's spider-sense. So usually it's Spider-Man trying to fight but then trying to escape to either get help, find something to stop him or simply hide. One of my favorite rivalries was Spidey vs. Green Goblin. And I mean before he was resurrected because I've read nothing of Osborn since he returned from the grave. There was just so much history and bad blood. Goblin is the Joker of the Marvel Universe.

I also like Magneto vs Professor X. They have history of being friends when they were younger. They become enemies not really by choice but by what they believe is best for man/mutant kind. Thing vs Hulk. I know they are both heroes, but these guys had awesome battles since their first meeting. Clobbering time vs Hulk smash. I love it. http://www.myspace.com/kidlippy

Tony Stark vs. Himself- It's harder to acknowledge your own inner demons and confront your own short comings than it is any outside advesary. Hal Jordan vs. Sinestro- with the recent issues of green lantern and hints of further implications their rivalry is one of the best in comics and it's STILL a relevant rivalry to this day Batman vs. Joker- One of the greatest examples of polar opposites and their rivalry has been one of the longest, twisted, and most disturbing of them all DD vs. Kingpin- Kingpin hit DD where it hurts and thats his life as Matt Murdock and theire back and forth was more reality based and gritty i'll probably have a few more later but these just popped up now
