OK, I'm fustrated way too much now.

I have been here for a couple decades now I think, maybe not.

Recently I have begun buying new comics and like always, find myself having to add a variant here in order to add it to my collection and store.

But just this last attempt, it seems that the Moderators have instituted a practice of just denying requests, and not offering reasons, until challenged. And still my new variant issue remains unlisted. No explanations, just denial.

After two posts about it, a got an exclamation that I was not adding it correctly. SO, I investigated this again.

I find the title in question, either from the store search field or the Library search field. WHen I locate the tital, the variant in question is not there. I move my mouse over to the little icons representing editing or adding (notepad icon and plus sign on what looks like a double notepad)
http://www.comiccollectorlive.com/LiveData/Issue_Edit.aspx?id=bd1cd623-e0e3-4dbd-9f75-4793c0bf9fb3

http://www.comiccollectorlive.com/LiveData/Issue_New_Add.aspx?base=bd1cd623-e0e3-4dbd-9f75-4793c0bf9fb3

I clicked the 2nd icon, and proceeded to add the pertinant data.
FAILURE.

I think it is finally time toend my relationship to CCL. I hardly use it now, certainly there is no evidense at all of any customer service here anymore.

I'm not a moderator or an approver but am curious what exactly are you trying to add ?
Are you trying to add a Vampirella 2019 Free Comic Book Day variant ?

Trying to ask before the troll posts show up.

You say you added the pertinent information, and then "FAILURE". What does that even mean? You hit submit and then a screen appeared with the giant word "FAILURE" on it?

Can't say that's ever happened to me.

I've never had a problem submitting CR's and having them approved. Sure, sometimes I've had to PM an Approver if it's been sitting a while, but that's basically the extent of any problem.

I don't believe I have some sort of privileged relationship with the Approvers that allow my submissions to be automatically approved. When they complain on the forums about so many Requests being an absolute mess as the reason for not moving quickly to address them, I have to believe that to be the case. I've also had Approvers private message me saying my Requests tend to be problem-free and that those type of Requests are in the minority of submissions. I'm not saying this to toot my own horn, but I think it's worth mentioning. I just try to cover the basics of adding outside links for supporting info, having captions correct by looking at similar entries to make sure everything is phrased properly, having things spelled correctly and capitalized. Add credits if I have time.

I don't know. My two cents.

Been there, lived that, made the same choice. Someone should be along soon to tell you it's all your fault, that you're not doing it right, that there are magical scrolls of info on how to do it right hidden somewhere that you can't remember while trying to keep up with the 1,000 other things it takes to run a business and have any life at all.

Simple sounding request. If it's not in the database and someone takes the time to make that apparent by trying to add it, do whatever it takes to get it added in the way that makes the approver happy immediately. No more delays, no more guessing what they aren't happy about, no more having other people also not having access to it while they play the Q&A game if they bother to say anything at all. Just be happy someone made it apparent you missed adding it in the first place and that someone is taking the time for free to point it out so you can make money off it in the future charging people to list and sell by it and for databasers paying for a database expecting it.

You can only beat your head against a wall of enablers for so long before you can't remember why you wanted to in the first place. Wall

WE WANT HEINICKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those picking, Heiney is now with the Chargers andhas 2 completions for 24 yards last time I checked this year. :)
Less than a year ago you didn't want us to be able to have the 2nd pick in the draft.
Seems like you're making progress, now to apply some of that to your Prime Time picks to see if you can catch up to me. Nailbiting

When I was in school, most teachers were very particular about how to put your heading on a paper, with all the correct info in the correct format. If you didn't, the paper could be rejected, or you could have your grade docked for it. But shouldn't the teacher just accept it and make changes herself when the info was wrong? I mean, by virtue of the fact the paper existed and I was in her class--that should have been enough for her to fill in the blanks, right? But then I realize I'm not the only student amongst all her different classes, and it's not up to her to fix my mistakes. I mean, what if all the students were not diligent in providing the correct info? Is the onus on her to fix everyone's work?

I'll understand if the parallel is lost to you.

YES!!! The difference is, we're PAYING for the service expecting it to already be done, PAYING for the right to list anything under the service we just provided for free if it does get approved, PAYING to use it as part of the database subscription if we aren't sellers and you're CHARGING others to use the work we provided as well!!!! As soon as we stop PAYING, we no longer get the benefit of our labor.

While I personally feel a lot of the approvers are really great people, although misguided, this is a completely different situation. The more correct parallel would be this was happening in the cafeteria and the lunch lady forgot to make the salad. We want salad but you want us to make the salad ourselves, aren't happy with the way we tossed it, sliced the carrots, dressed it or whatever so now no-one gets to eat it for a long period of time and then if we ever do, you're going to charge us for the serving, and again tomorrow and so on. A simple could we get some salad should be all the students need to say. We're not chefs even though you want us to be. Shame on You

I'm not the only person that feels this way. The poster apparently has similar feelings and there's no telling how many hundreds or even thousands of others felt similar and just left without ever taking the time to make our feelings clear so CCL can know why we're leaving. At least people like us are trying to make it clear that we aren't happy and the status qua isn't sufficient for our needs.

You may now resume attacking the messengers!!!!

You seem to make a big issue that we pay for the CCL software, so therefore the Approvers should do it your way. Paying for the software/database doesn't mean anything, because the system was set up this way when you decided to pay. You knew that it was user-built and that any additions would be provided by you for free. This isn't a bait and switch. The approvers don't owe you anything just because you pay for the software. Don't like it? Then leave and don't pay. Also, it looks like you're not a subscriber anymore anyway, so not sure why you keep using this as an argument.

The lunchlady comparison is not a good analogy. Students don't go to the cafeteria demanding certain foods be made. The lunch lady gives you what she wants. The students have no say in the matter. If your school operated the way you say in your analogy, then that explains a lot.

BJ, didn't you set up your own website that you sell comics from? How can you figure out how to do that but you still don't know how to put in an accurate CR? Time Out

Can it be simplified? Sure. Is it Brain Science or Rocket Surgery? No.

Here's an analogy:

You break up with your longtime Significant Other but rather than move on with your life and letting them move on with theirs you continue to hang out with them and are the first to jump in and badmouth them to any new suitor.

I hate how seemingly every thread seems to end up in the same place and rarely actually answering the original question. Though I guess this one I can at least see the connection to the rant.

Here is a pertinent answer. You added the book wrong. You went to the TITLE and clicked the add icon. You need to go to the ISSUE and click the add icon.

Also, the caption you were attempting to add was incorrect. And theres just an entire database for you to look at to see the correct way to do a caption.

This is what you want:

http://www.comiccollectorlive.com/LiveData/Issue_New_Add.aspx?base=e04d5459-718c-40cd-b581-39540254d6e6

And the Approvers are correct--that caption is horrendous. It boggles my mind that someone who has been around for 20 years (longer than CCL has been in existence) can't recognize all the errors in that caption.

As for why the Approvers can't "just fix it"--I defer to my schoolwork analogy I already posted.

Ha. Just stopped by to see if the wreckage is still smoldering. What a wasteland. Nothing but unhappiness and hostility. Well, just wanted to throw some rocks at the already broken windows in the abandoned house. See ya.

While it somewhat of a shell of the good old days, this is still the best place for me to buy comics online.

It's still here, and so am I.

Just curious, are you still actively buying or selling comics?

If so, where?
