I was wondering what kind of comics y'all buy. I personally buy any comic that catches my fancy but I do know a lot of other collectors that limit their comics to only SA, GA, or the Modern Age. I also know a few collectors who strictly buy key issues and I know one who only buys #1's. What kind do you collect?

I tend to buy comics that relate to important events in my life. I collect Amazing Spider-man because it was the first thing I read on my own and I collect Batman from the year I was born to the present.

I tend to buy whatever catches my eye as well. I miss working on Wed. mornings at my local shop. It was like Christmas every week! I'm sure Bullseye131 knows what I'm talking about. Seeing all the new books layed out on the processing table...Drooling

That Batman thing is a very interesting idea. I'd never thought of that. Of course, I'd have to go back to 1975 and I don't think my wallet would appreciate that right now. Something to think about though...Think

Oh, indeed I do, my friend! It's weird, though, because when I'm helping dole out books or whatever it's like I'm ina zone or something so I can't really "enjoy" what's laid out in front of me...until I go into MY box later!

I buy mostly Silver and Bronze age for back issues since my 80s and ::shudder:: 90s run is good, but the occasional Golden age finds its way into my collection as well...I've only got about 100 Gold right now, including a Captain Marvel Jr. #16 from '44. I also have a lot of Crime Does Not Pay books since I love that run.

Other than that, a good number of current Marvels and one of every current DC.

I may have the strictest of all collecting habits: Only Punisher titles and Punisher guest appearances. That's why my collection is only around 650 issues.

There's nothing wrong with that. You know what you like. Just curious though...have you ever tried reading anything other than Punisher? I'm not trying to sound like an a$$hole, so please don't take it that way. I'm just curious.

No offense taken. After I saw the Crow movie, I bought the TPB of the first James O'Barr arc and loved it. Now that I think of it, I was too young for both (movie and book intend for those over 17), but I was allowed to see both with NO INTERFERENCE!!! I'm thinking of picking some more of those, but right now most of my money (that my mother doesn't nickel-and-dime out of me for groceries) goes to my first addiction: PUNISHER!
Also, I collected most of the X-Men: Age of Apocalypse titles.
Other than that, I couldn't wait for Star Wars Episode I to come out on video, so I bought the TPB of the comic adaptation.
And I liked Marvel Zombies Vs. Army of Darkness sooo much, I might buy the whole series!

I used to be strictly Marvel, but grew outta it. Now I got a pull-list that spans the spectrum of popular comics, but I also pick up books that catch my eye here and there and whatever indies my colleagues happen to work on. And when I do backissues, depending where I go and what's the sale, I usually fill up my cart with everything I need then after my heart attack at the price slowly whittle it down to whatever cover intrigues me the most. Or whatever closes up an issue gap. Either way.

I buy a wide range of titles from all across the board. I buy the traditional superhero stuff (FF, Flash, X-Men, Batman etc.) but I like a lot of the Vertigo stuff and the non-spandex titles - Jonah Hex, Criminal, Stray Bullets and the like. I pretty much get anything by Alan Moore, Garth Ennis and Grant Morrison. Whenever I go to a con I'll pick up lots of the small-press books - often you don't see them anywhere else, and I generally pick up whatever takes my fancy from whatever company. I guess all told I get about 100 - 125 different titles a month, which I get the impression is more than most. There's so much interesting stuff out I couldn't imagine only sticking to a single character, company or genre.

I'm going for full series...Mostly marvel, have completed most of them, still need Amazing Fantasy #15 to complete my ASM series and a few JIM books to complete my Thor series. If all goes well I should be finished with all things Marvel this year or next year. After that I'm going to try and put together a full run of Batman #1 - #500
Stopped buying new issues a few months ago, still buy a lot of Vertigo TPBs and everything DC brings out in the Absolute edition format.
Am also a sucker for prestige hardcover reissues of books I already own Wall

I buy most of the Spider-Man books (but NOT Mary Jane Loves Spidey or whatever it is called) and will pick up a new book if the story or character looks interesting. That is how I got into trouble and spent all my cash on #1s in the 80s and 90s. I am more selective now as I am trying to complete my Amazing Spider-Man run.

I started w/ Batman...and Detective. Then I added in LOTDK & Grell's Green Arrow (I always liked Robin Hood). JLI was just starting then as well, and it was funny. Then it grew to include all the Bat-type books. Mostly DC type stuff w/ a brief dabble int Marvel when it had it's Age of Apocolypse type stuff. Then back to just DC, then added in Crossgen. And when a new writer comes on board for Batman or something, I checked out some other stuff they have done...like "Queen & Country"& "Whiteout" (Rucka)& "Deadenders" & "Scenee of the Crime" (Brubaker).

Now I've expanded into Wolverine (damn you Rucka) and New Avengers & CW (damn you Marvel).
Plus interesting things like "New Spring", "Hedge Knight", and "Dark Tower".
