My wife and I are about to buy a house and I finally get my own comic book room! But I need help in designing it. That's where YOU come in! I am going to be chronicling the transformation of the room over at comicattack.net. Head over there and help me out, or posts ideas here, as well.

First order of business is to name my column. Confused

I like the Danger Room idea. You can go with a mostly X-Men theme.

See if they have a wall stretcher I can borrow to make my own rooms bigger.

How big is your room? Is it bigger than the art room or play room? Or did you have to settle (for the sake of the kids of course) for the small room.

It's kind of a funky room. I was going to take the smallest room, but I realized there were so many rooms up there that I could really take a bigger one and it wouldn't matter.

The design of the rooms upstairs are not original to the house. But my room kinda has two parts to it. I thought there would be a good nook for a desk and another for comic storage. I'll post more pictures as we go along. Keep checking!

I'm very happy and excited for you FJ.
I just recently got my comic book room back.I had one in our last house.I had the entire basement, but it wasn't heated so it kinda sucked. This time I got the smallest of the rooms but hey I'm tickled with that.I don't really have a theme at this time.I have posters on the walls (courtesy of Pat,Thanks a ton for them). The posters are of Green Lantern Corps,Batman,Superman,X-Men,Spider-man,Captain America,Iron Man,Avengers,Wolverine,Civil War.Then I have my X Box 360 and PS2 set up in there. Then there is the sea of comic boxes and comics setting on shelves.I have 1 shelf with my dvds,1 shelf with my games, and in the bottom of both shelves are my books. And in the middle of the room is my recliner. It is sheer heaven.Every married comic book fan needs their own room.

On a side note I'm still looking for some more posters if anyone has any.Really wanting a Moon Knight poster.

My office is painted to look like a castle with towers and turrets and a sky ceiling. I've got a bookshelf that is mainly ornamental and a glass display case I got from IKEA with all my statues and stuff in it.

Take whichever room has the least number of windows. Natural light is bad for the books and it just wastes a perfectly good area for a bookcase. The perfect book room has no windows.

The following stores are all stores that I've dealt with or have become friends with through the forums and I highly recommend them all.

Good point, Pat. Unfortunately, the smaller room won't hold everything I want in there. Guess I'll have to draw the blinds.

I went out and bought a tall bookcase with a solid back on it and put it in front of the window. It blocked most of the window and used the space. Here are some pictures of my book room taken about a year and a half ago. It's a lot messier now.

Pat, what if your comics were in boxes or drawers? Does the natural light affect them if they are not out in the open like yours?

Thanks for posting your room! I want to see more ideas!!!!

Keep a board in the front and back of the box and the lid on so the light stays out and you're good to go. I have another room filled with boxed books, but it's not as pretty.

Are those drawer boxes? What do you think of those?
Yes they are and I love them. I actually use them for my CCL store stock, so I'm in and out of them much more often than if they were my collection, and they hold up great. Since I took the pictures I've added regular comic boxes on top and they still hold up fine. It sure beats moving 4 or 5 long boxes to get to the one on the bottom, and I think they look real nice too.
