So comes an end to the much maligned Mike Carey arc. As I have said throughout, I enjoyed this storyline very much. It was refreshing to see some lesser known characters involved in something small scale and outside of the major story arcs littering the current Marvel landscape.
I wasn't completely thrilled by the ending, but it was alright. For such a formidable foe, the Children of the Vault fell pretty easily!
There were some great moments in this book, such as seeing Rogue lay some beatings down that were reminiscent of the Rogue of old. I also learned a great deal about Paras that I didn't know. I mean, I knew he could summon mystical armour, but I always thought it was more like a combination between Colossus and Rockslide. I didn't realize it was actual Sauron, Lord of the Rings armour. This was a nice surprise for me. Hopefully, writers will pick up on his break from his father and his faith and cast him a little more in future X-books.
Clay Mann and Tom Raney's interior art was very safe in a traditional kind of way. And it was nice to see Leinil Francis Yu take care of the cover.
I'm sure this won't be the last we see of the Children of the Vault. Especially considering Luz's infatuation with Paras. I for one could stand seeing them in more story arcs. They are a very interesting cast of baddies!
