Like the title of this review indicates, this book was satisfyingly simple. It was somewhat predictable in it's setting, plot and characters and sure you've probably seen 100 different movies that operated under the same premise, but the final book of this 3 part mini-series wasn't too bad.
I think the reason this book was successful despite it's simplicity is because Luke Cage is a simple guy. The story made me remember a great line from Luke Cage back when Captain America was trying to recruit him for the New Avengers. Cage said something like, "I'm gonna want to do things my way! There are people and problems that I am going to want the Avengers to deal with that don't involve aliens and saving the world!" Cage's character drifted away from these values over the past couple of years. Now, this book brings him right back.
I really enjoyed the stylized art and thought the story was tight. So if you are in the mood for an entertaining little read, pick up this 3 parter’. It's the real Luke Cage!
