This issue represents the finale of the Curse of the Mutants story arc, and truth be told it wasn't too bad.
I have to say that I am happy with the way the story played out. Some people might accuse this arc of being too light or maybe even predictable. Funny thing is, if it was any more complex people would probably accuse the story of being convoluted. Ultimately, I think the story works in its simplicity.
Xarus defeated by the X-Men, now has to face the wrath of his father, Dracula. Xarus still believes he is the superior vampire and is taught a lesson for his ignorance. All the while, the X-Men lay waste to the remaining vampire hordes.
There is a brilliant page in which Paco Medina depicts a stare down between Cyclops and Dracula. It's tough to describe, so you will have to check it out first hand. Let's just say that Scott's brass ones seem to be growing daily!
Ultimately, the issue is jam packed with machismo and one upmanship. And, it works really well (just ask Blade!)
Even though the vampire threat seems to be over, the X-Men are still left with the tough decision of what to do with Jubilee who has recently entered the ranks of the Nosfaratu!
Thanks for giving us back a classic feel to the X-men Victor Gischler.
