I have given this a
2 star rating because
IF I had actually picked up this new series with this 1st issue I would have put it right back down with this 1st issue & not wanted anything more to do with the series. As I disagree with how the creators had begun this series. However, I
didn’t pick this series up with the
1st issue I
started this series with the 5th issue & thus I had to have the 1st issue, because of how intrigued I was with the story in the 5th issue as the
story is great, so that is why you will also find that a
5 star rating has been given to this issue & other issues that will no doubt have a better review than this one.
“O Brave New World” – You'll find yourself in a spacecraft with two very intense looking humans, the story begins with us being introduced to
Doctor Alexander Grange and
Penaltra, returning to Doctor Alexander Grange’s home planet of
Malay. Unfortunately, we are not given many facts to go on. Therefore, it hardly seems to be unusual that the planet is in such disarray to Penaltra, or us or had more moons than Doctor Alexander Grange remembered. The overgrowth of the vegetation of the planet to his farm did not phase us either. However, that did phase Doctor Alexander Grange, so much so that he force landed our spacecraft. We are still not given any explanation as to how long he has been gone. After the force landing we find ourselves being introduced to the
Payeru this is a species of alien life that is part bat & part werewolf in appearance. Thus begins our adventure into the
Lost Universe. Once we are safely back aboard our spacecraft, we are informed to some degree that Doctor Alexander Grange has been in a coma as he wonders why so much has changed & why what use to be peaceful alien life forms are now barbaric in nature. We continue on our originally scheduled flight for the one remaining colony known as the Primary Base which for the most part looked just like Doctor Alexander Grange remembered it to have appeared with one exception it appears to have had centuries of overgrowth. The main colony of life actually exists under ground not on the surface. We are now greeted by some of the descendants of this planet. Still all the while no mention as to how much time has truly passed. After this brief introduction to a few members that remain nameless until later in the story much, much later in the story. We are asked to wait for the next exciting issue to be released.
As I said if I had picked this series up with this issue, I would have left it with this issue.
