If Deadpool isn't making a really huge impression on the big players in the MU at this point I don't know if he ever will. Because this is the stuff of pure genius, this showcases how intelligent, tactical, dangerous and down right screwed up Wade is.
To the point that he becomes so dangerously unpredictable, you don't know what he is going to do next.
I absolutely love it! This is what Deadpool is all about! I think the main Deadpool series before this was trying to hard to make him funny and too mentally deranged. Whereas this combines the humour you want from Deadpool, with the war-crazed genius side of him that should always be present in a Deadpool story.
Deadpool gets in deep with the sharks here,
real deep. Without spoiling it, (because its so exciting you should be wanting to read it) basically Deadpool falls into a trap, but then turns the tables round on the Thunderbolts and makes them fall into his trap. When you read it, it makes perfect sense and the writing has a natural flow.
The new Thunderbolts are showcased equally as well in this part of the crossover, you get to know them more and everything feels really great.
Black Widow II has some great characterisation in here (as did Headsmen and Paladin a little bit), and the last page made me laugh out loud, but it only added to her & Deadpool's characterisation. It was a Deadpool classic right off the bat! Bang. AWESOME!
So the story was superb. It was intelligent, funny and action-packed! Just what you need when crossing over two deadly slices of the MU.
The artist in here was great, I really like his (at least I think it's a
he) artwork and this was the first time I've ever seen it in a comic. It left a very good first impression!
I'd like to see this artist on the main Deadpool series once this crossover concludes! Paco Medina is getting a tad tiresome in my opinion. But whatever, better the devil you know, because you never knows what's going to happen!
Great work Andy Diggle.
