Namor's Strange Connection

This particular addition to the newest Namor reboot is as much to do with the past as it does the present.

Writer Stuart Moore does a fine job of dredging up old details on the Sub-Mariner and using them as part of another origin story in this issue. Those of you who are familiar with the underwater Prince's past might remember a certain female, NYC police officer who was able to calm down a rampaging Namor back in the 40's. This story picks up where that story leaves off, following Namor's exploits with the officer through better or worse.

Using some pretty clever plot-weaving techniques, Moore is able to connect Namor's past to the young X-Man Lao, the matter distorting mutant. Ultimately, this connection proves to be a very valuable find for Loa!

Personally, I think this story fits Namor well. Forget trying to tie Namor into some massive Marvel event. Let's instead continue exploring Marvel's first mutant by looking closer at the man who is king of Atlantis.

I have high hopes for this arc. If it continues along the road this issue took, it should be informative and entertaining.
