Same Old Same Old

I know that I will probably be facing a lynch mob by saying this, but this book is sooooooooooo slow. This may be the longest storyline I have ever read. At least if feels that way considering the story doesn't move at all. Every time I find a shred of hope in the form of a reveal or something interesting, it seems as though the plug is pulled on it. When Sharon was found to be pregnant for instance, I thought, "Cool, she is going to give birth to the next Captain America and Bucky can go back to being the Winter Soldier!" Of course, no! She loses the baby. And why on Earth would Dr. Doom have any interest in helping separate Lykin from the Red Skull? Alas, this book is a fair read as a standalone issue. Brubaker is a good writer and Epting's art matches the tone of the book well. I am slightly intrigued by Faustas' betrayal. It just seems as though this current storyline can continue for years. 20 years from now the breakthrough will be that Bucky (as Cap.) discovers that the Red Skull is actually just a guy in a mask. Brubaker fans seem to love it. Me, I'm not sure why I buy it....
