While reading this issue, I actually had to check the cover a couple of times to see if it was Bendis who was writing. Dan Slott's witty banter had a real Bendis-like feel to it.
This issue was a great way to start my pile of reads this week. I've always loved the tormented characterization of Yellow Jacket. Here is a guy who has made all of the wrong decisions and is the whipping boy of the Marvel Universe despite being one of the smartest people on the planet. With a new Avengers team on the horizon, it is ironic that it is him who will lead it.
All throughout Pym is berated and abused by everyone from Iron Man and the Young Avengers, to local villagers. Of course in true Pym fashion, he finds a way to save the day by the end of the book.
Pair this with the conception of a new, and VERY interesting Avengers roster and you have a terrific little read! The surprise on the last page was no let down either. Excellent plot twist which fixes the problems I had with the "re-emergence" of the Scarlet Witch.
It can only get interesting from here on in!
