For the first time in quite a while, I am enjoying Legacy. For the longest time the series felt unimportant and unrelated. This "Collision" storyline has been very interesting.
A rag-tag assortment of X-people find themselves in India, staying at Paras' house. Paras finds out that he has been arranged to marry a local girl in place of his brother who has fallen ill (due to the strange electrical storms - which is why Magneto is in Mumbai.)
The story begins to adopt a personal touch in this issue as we learn more about the strange girl Luz who just appeared out of thin air. I must be getting sentimental in my old age, because I find myself highly interested in Luz's adoration of the unavailable Paras. Their infatuation seems very genuine!
Last but not least, the final page reveals the true identify of Luz's people. And if you are anything like me, this group of villains was one of my favourite Mike Carey creations.
So here I find myself abandoning my long time love affair with Uncanny X-Men, and falling for her younger step-sister, Legacy! But with such a promising story, highlighting previously ignored characters, who can blame me. Throw in a beautifully pencilled Leinil Francis Yu cover and you have a great addition to any X-fan's library.
