It would seem that Kanigher may have been going thru some mental block issue(s) during Wonder Woman #162 to #167. The stories although intriguing, just seemed to fall apart as we read them. Take for example the two stories in this issue, "The Secret of Tabu Mt." and "Strange Power of the Magic Lasso". Both start off with promise then bite the dust.
The first story centers on Diana Prince, the woman who's identity Wonder Woman is using. It seems that a jungle tribe has captured her fiancé and she wants Wonder Woman to rescue him. I'll admit that sounds like a pretty good plot, but it all is for naught as we find ourselves caught up in apprehension and doubt as Wonder Woman tries to rescue Bill, knowing that he thinks she is Diana Prince.
The second story rotates around Steve Trevor and his attitude to Wonder Woman refusing to marry him until she is no longer needed. Believe me when I say that this is getting redundant, he's been doing this for the last five issues. In this story he even goes as far as using Wonder Woman's lasso to stop her heroics so that she will have to marry him. It's just a waste of story space. It could have been made better if we had an attitude change on Trevor's part four issues ago.
Now to the good for this issue, the Ross Andru and Mike Esposito art-work. It's classic and they complement each other so well. But art can only make up for so much in a comic-book. I highly recommend that unless you need this issue for your collection, it's best to avoid even attempting to read.
