This issue was only $1 so too pass up on buying this would have been simply insane. It's a full length first issue with just as many pages of story and ads, as any comic being published by Vertigo at the moment, so there is seriously and honestly
NO CATCH in this comic, which a lot of people I assume found hard to believe with it being priced so low.
Arguably though, I suppose one could say that the overall catch here, was the intensely graphic and mature content within the story.
I have never read anything like this before in a comic book. You have mother/son incest, vast sexual refferences and a lot of gang violence.
But all in all, having said this, they do fit into the plot of the story well and they do fit the genre of story well.
The plot is a little confusing here so far, but things do get explained as the issues moves forward. The narration works very well with the artwork and the dialouge is ok.
This is just one of those comics which will undoubtedly get much better in 2 or 3 issues time when things become clearer.
One little tiny problem I had with this, was that it was very hard too tell where it was set until you got too the very end where the policemen were dressed in British Police Gear. As for a while, as I was reading through this, I was always wondering where this was set.
All in all though, for $1, this is one comic you
DO NOT WANT TOO MISS, but be aware of the graphic content!
